Onboarding Checklist For Next.js Developers
The following onboarding checklist contains the items needed to get you started. With some guidance from your manager, you should be able to follow these steps in order to accomplish onboarding.
Onboarding Checklist
- Getting access to systems
- Accessing other 3rd-party tools
- Review help resources and add news/chat channels
- Install necessary software
- Learning the tech stack
- Review the quick overview
- Get a Next.js container and spin it up
Checklist Goals (first 1-2 weeks)
- Environment Setup: Have all necessary permissions and access
- Repository Access: Successfully create and attach a Docker container
- Team Integration: Attend team standup meetings
- Tool Familiarity: Basic proficiency with Vercel, GitHub and Schwab CLI, and development workflow
Success Metrics (aggressive)
Week 1: Environment setup complete, first PR merged
Week 2: Comfortable with development workflow, contributing to sprint work
Month 1: Independent feature development, mentoring newer team members
Month 3: Subject matter expertise in specific area, leading technical discussions
